75-Year-Old Atiku Abubakar Says He Witnessed The Building Of Lagos

Must read

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, shared his story as a young resident of Lagos State, describing himself as a Lagosian who knows virtually every part of the Centre of Excellence.

The 75-year-old said this during an interactive session at the Nigerian Guild of Editors in Lagos, where he was invited to discuss his plans for the country with regard to education, economy, security, and national unity, among others.

“I’ve lived in Lagos since 1969, married in Lagos. I was here when all the roads, bridges, and flyovers were built – in my presence. There is no part in Lagos I have not lived,” Atiku said.

The PDP candidate reeled off a list of Lagos neighbourhoods he resided in, including Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Aguda, and Anthony Village along Ikorodu Road.

“I saw Lagos being built, from the old Carter Bridge. I tell people that we used to trek from V.I. to 1 Brickfield Road, Ebute Metta on foot to attend classes and then go back on foot. So, I must let you understand, I’m a Lagosian.

“I spent a greater part of my career in the South, so I know the South perhaps as much as I know the North. I consider myself not only a true Nigerian, but a very true Nigerian in the real sense of the world,” he said.

‘Dead Party, Dead Fish’ – Bola Tinubu Mocks PDP And Its Presidential Flag-bearer, Atiku

Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, has mocked the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Tinubu described Atiku as a wrong theory while PDP was a dead party that should be rejected during the 2023 elections.

He spoke at the flag-off of the APC presidential campaign in Jos, the Plateau State capital on Tuesday, November 15, 2022.

He said: “One of them, I don’t want to call their names. Is it Atiku? Atilukated what? Wrong theory. Mark it down. Wrong theory for Atiku.

“They want to come back. Tell them that a dead fish cannot be sweet in any soup.”

The event was attended by his running mate, Kashim Shettima; President Muhammadu Buhari; Senate President Ahmad Lawan; Governors elected on the party’s platform; and other party national stakeholders.

Tinubu’s comment came at a time both presidential candidates met at the Abuja airport.

While Tinubu was heading to Jos, Atiku was going to Lagos to honour a lecture.

During the meeting, Tinubu told Atiku that he had relocated from Lagos State to Abuja.

Imo PDP Stakeholders Reject the Constitution Of Atiku’s Presidential Campaign Council

Some stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Imo State, have rejected the recently announced list of the party’s presidential campaign council for the state.

The state secretary of the party, Nze Ray Emeana had released the list on Sunday, November 13, 2022, with the immediate past governor of the state, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha as chairman of the council.

Addressing journalists in Owerri, the stakeholders described the list as an extension of Rt. Hon. Ihedioha’s campaign council.

Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders, Hon. Ngozi Ogbu said there was no consultation before the constitution of the list, dismissing it as fake and product of imposition.

Ogbu is the Director General of Divine Mandate Movement, a campaign structure of the National Secretary of PDP, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu.

He said stakeholders of the party were summoned to a meeting at the secretariat to discuss the composition of the campaign council, but were surprised to behold an already composed list.

Also speaking, Chief Myke Ikoku corroborated Ogbu’s claim and called on the National Working Committee of the party and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to redress the issue.

The stakeholders said: “We the Imo PDP stakeholders reject the fake Presidential Campaign Council list purportedly announced today, November, the 13th, 2022 by the State Secretary of the party, Nze Ray Emeana.

“We wish to use this medium to inform our Party that the stakeholders in Imo State were summoned to a stakeholders meeting to discuss the composition of the Presidential Campaign Council and Campaign Management Committee, but to our surprise and chagrin, the Secretary of the party proceeded to read out a list of members of the Presidential Campaign Council and Management Committee list.

“This led to fracas and the vast majority of stakeholders rejected and opposed the announcement due to lack of consultation and imposition.

“Members frowned at an attempt to use the Presidential Campaign Council as an extension of Ihedioha’s Campaign Council.

“The Party Stakeholders reject the imposition of a governorship aspirant, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, as Chairman of the Presidential Campaign Council, and the directors of his campaign team as heads of the various Presidential Campaign Directorates.

“It is instructive that the members of Imo PDP Elders Committee boycotted the stakeholders meeting due to the above stated reasons.

“We, therefore, call on the National Working Committee and the Presidential Candidate of our Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to arrest the situation urgently to ensure victory for our Party”.
