Adamawa Acting Governor Fintiri Constitutes 7-Man Panel To Probe Nyako’s Regime

Adamawa State Acting Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has constituted a seven-man judicial panel of inquiry to undertake a comprehensive assessment of governance under the impeached Governor Murtala Nyako in Adamawa State from June 2007 to June 2014.

According to a statement signed by the secretary to the state Government, Prof. Liman Tukur in Yola Monday the panel is headed by the former  Acting Chief Judge of the state, Justice Bobbo Umar. The members include retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, Leha Mala,  Zira Maigadi, Engineer Suleiman Naiwa, Abubakar Abdullahi, Samuel Kyenson and Daden Nyari, a Director in the Ministry of Justice as Secretary of the panel.

The panel=s terms of reference are: to investigate financial accruals to the state form June 2007 to June 2014; investigate disbursement and application of funds to ministries, boards, and agencies over the same period, to examine the appropriateness or otherwise of disbursement and application funds over the period in reference; and identify those involved in appropriating financial disbursements and application.

It is also to unravel recruitment, deployment and administration of human resources including the setting up, financial and operation of extra ministerial units, and investigate any other issue that the panel may find relevant to its assignment and also make recommendation to thegovernment on all issues investigated.

The panel is expected to submit its report within four weeks from the date of its inauguration. The Acting Governor has also approved the constitution of an investigative panel to undertake a comprehensive assessment of the Adamawa Homes and Savings Limited.
