Adamawa By-Election: No Election In 2 Troubled LGA’s – INEC

As preparations for the Saturday, October 11, 2014 gubernatorial by-elections in Adamawa state hits top gear, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 that elections will not be held in two Local Government Areas (LGA).

According to INEC, the two LGA’s, Madagali and Michika will not hold elections because of violence as Islamist sect, Boko Haram is believed to have major strong holds in the areas.

INEC had last week raised concerns that there was were threat of “constant state of fear, insurgency, thuggery, violence and ballot box snatching” in Maha and Mubi North and South local government areas

Attahiru Jega, the chairman of INEC is already in Yola, the Adamawa state capital to supervise preparations as materials are said to be arriving the state on Friday, October 10, 2014.
