Any Suprise? Nyesom Wike Says He’s Open to Serving in Tinubu’s Administration

PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria – The immediate past governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has indicated his willingness to serve in the administration of President Bola Tinubu, asserting that he is not too big to serve his country.

However, he also said that he would seek the opinions of his wife and friends before deciding to take up any appointment offer from Tinubu.

During an interview with BBC Pidgin on Monday, June 5, 2023, Wike expressed his belief that the views of his wife and friends are essential in making his next decision on this issue.

Despite the discussion, Wike clarified that President Tinubu has not yet offered him any appointment. He also expressed his desire for some rest after serving as governor for eight years.

“I’m going to rest; I have worked for eight years, so I’m going to rest. Tinubu has not informed me about getting an appointment; I’m not too big to serve my country, but he has never told me that he would give me an appointment,” Wike said.

In the event of such an offer, Wike plans to first consult with his wife and friends. He stated, “If he asks me, the first thing I will do is ask my wife and friends what they think about it. I will also assess myself if I’m prepared. I will never do what I’m not ready for.”
