Babcock University Expels Student Over Alleged Fetish Practices, Fraud and Drug Peddling

Must read

ILISHAN-REMO, Nigeria — Babcock University has expelled a student, Oladipupo Siwajuola, over what it described as a “gross violation of university rules,” citing offences ranging from fetish practices and drug peddling to impersonation and dishonesty.

The decision was disclosed in an official statement issued on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, and signed by the institution’s Director of Marketing and Communication, Dr Joshua Suleiman.

According to the university, Siwajuola was dismissed after a detailed investigation into his conduct and recent disappearance from campus.

Siwajuola’s case gained national attention in early May 2025 when his mother publicly accused the university of negligence after reporting him missing.

However, the university refuted the claims, stating that the student deliberately left campus on Monday, April 28, 2025, disguised in a hoodie, exiting through the teaching hospital gate without official clearance.

The statement further revealed that Siwajuola admitted to acquiring a black soap from a traditional herbalist for N100,000, which he said was intended for ritual purposes as part of a “Yahoo Yahoo Plus” scheme — a colloquial term for internet fraud involving fetish practices.

This contradicted his mother’s earlier claim that the soap was for a skin condition.

Babcock University also stated that the student confessed to drug peddling, taking a N500,000 loan from a mobile lending app to support gambling activities, and impersonating another student to open a bank account.

He reportedly sold his phone without proper authorisation and misled the buyer by claiming to have parental consent.

Contrary to the mother’s claim that he was rescued by his former secondary schoolmates, the university said Siwajuola was discovered in Lagos after the mother of a friend he was staying with alerted authorities due to the viral nature of the case online.

Following its investigation, the institution concluded that Siwajuola had breached multiple regulations, including unauthorised exit from campus, use of fetish materials, drug-related offences, impersonation, dishonesty, and sale of property without approval.

His expulsion was executed in accordance with university policy and global standards, the statement said.

“While we recognise the emotional weight of this decision, especially for the family involved, our foremost responsibility remains the safety and moral integrity of all students entrusted to our care,” Dr Suleiman stated.

The university also responded to what it called “sensational and baseless accusations” made by the student’s mother.

It described the allegations as false and misleading but confirmed that no legal action would be pursued due to what it characterised as the “responsible conduct” of the student’s father.
