NEW YORK, USA — Beyoncé found a heartfelt way to mark her daughter Blue Ivy’s second birthday, sharing an online collection of fan-made tributes to the toddler.
The singer, 32, gathered dozens of birthday messages sent by admirers and posted them on a dedicated Tumblr page. Many of the notes featured handmade signs, drawings and personal photographs celebrating Blue Ivy’s milestone.
In addition to curating the messages, Beyoncé created a collage of some of the submissions, writing across the collection: “Happy Birthday Miss Carter!”
Blue Ivy, born to Beyoncé and rapper Jay-Z in January 2012, has attracted a following of her own, with fans sending their congratulations from around the world.
While the couple are known for fiercely guarding their daughter’s privacy, they occasionally share glimpses of family life. Beyoncé described the online birthday project as a way to preserve the moment for her child to enjoy in the future.
“While she may not fully appreciate them now, Blue can treasure the messages for years to come,” Beyoncé noted on the Tumblr post.
The celebration comes during a busy period for the superstar couple. Jay-Z, born Shawn Corey Carter, is in the middle of his Magna Carter World Tour, while Beyoncé last month surprised fans with the release of a self-titled album, accompanied by a music video for every track.
In a behind-the-scenes documentary accompanying the record, Beyoncé reflected on taking a more personal approach to her work. “I don’t think I would’ve done it back then,” she said in Self-Titled Part 5: Honesty. “I don’t think I would’ve been confident enough. I would’ve been too afraid of what other people thought, but I kinda dropped that fourth wall and I did it.”
