Boko Haram Is Not Nigeria’s Only Issue, Buhari Is Also A Big Problem – International Criminal Court Lawyer Says [WATCH]

A lawyer at the International Criminal Court, Hague, Netherlands has highlighted the unsavoury human rights record of former Head of State and presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari as a serious issue to Nigeria asides the menace posed by Islamist sect, Boko Haram.

Professor Goran Sluiter, a specialist in criminal law and international law and a professor at the University of Amsterdam, who was speaking during the Mid-Point on Newsmax TV, said General Buhari is currently facing criminal charges for violent crimes he incited his followers to commit after the 2011 election.

Professor Sluiter said: “It is not only Boko Haram that is the issue, but also about the election.One of the candidates, General Buhari is suspected to have committed crimes against humanity and that is an issue.

“I am representing clients from Nigeria and we have submitted (last) week the criminal complaints at the International Criminal Court regarding this presidential candidate’s behaviour”

Sluiter further revealed that the statements made by General Buhari in 2011 incited violence which resulted on the death of about 800 people with about 65,000 displaced, which were massive even by :African standards.”

He said: “I have talked to two victims and their relatives. They were killed in a police station were they had gone to seek refuge. They were hiding from the angrily violent mob.”
