BREAKING: UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson Tests Positive For Coronavirus

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has tested positive for coronavirus. He is said to have developed mild symptoms which include coughing and a temperature in the past 24 hours.

Mr. Johnson said he will now be in self-isolation in his No 10 Downing Street residence but will continue to work and lead the government’s response to the pandemic via video-conference. Prime Minister Boris Johnson was tested in his No 10 Downing Street residence by staff of the National Health Service on the advice of Professor Chris Witty, England’s chief medical officer.

On the tweet announcement on Mr. Johnson’s personal Twitter account, he used the hashtag #StayHomeSaveLives

In the United Kingdom, 578 people have died as a result of Covid-19, while there have been more than 11,600 confirmed cases. As a result of Coronavirus or Covid-19 outbreak, the UK government announced a lockdown, and under an emergency legislation, UK police officers can impose fines for breaching the lockdown. The lockdown was imposed after a widespread disregard for the official advice to stay home.

The premiership of Boris Johnson began on 24th of July, 2019 following the resignation of Theresa May who stood down as the Conservative Party leader following her inability to find a workable solution acceptable to the UK parliament on Brexit.

Subsequently, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson won in a general election on December 12, 2019 winning a clear majority.
