Buhari Meets With Lawan Group Of APC Lawmakers, Insists On Party Supremacy

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, June 26, 2015 met held a closed door meeting with the Senator Ahmed Lawan led “Senate Unity Forum” (SUF) of All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers.

The SUF are made up of legislators that have so far towed the party line as regards the proceedings of the 8th Assembly.According to Punch, at the meeting which was held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, President Buhari insisted on party supremacy, stating his full support for the actions of the APC leadership so far as regards the National Assembly crisis.Speaking anonymously after the meeting, one of the senators who was part of the meeting said Nigerians should wait and see the effect of the meeting.

He said: “Yes, we met with the president and it was a fruitful one, going forward. We had the assurances of Mr. President that he is fully behind the position of the APC leadership on the National Assembly election.

“We are currently on recess but I am sure that when we resume, Nigerians will begin to see the effect of the meeting. I won’t say more than that.”
