A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State has barred the Edo state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, from conducting the governorship primary election scheduled for Thursday, June 25, 2020.
One of the PDP aspirants in the state, Omorege Ogbeide-Ihama had filled a suit before the court on June 22 to prevent the party from producing Governor Godwin Obaseki as their flagbearer.
Ogbeide-Ihama had vowed not to step down for Governor Godwin Obaseki who just joined the party after his disqualification from contesting in the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship primaries.
The presiding judge granted the experte order and allowed the defendant to serve the parties in the suit through substituted means, in two national dailies, and adjourned the case till June 24 for hearing of the summon.
