After it was revealed that his honourary doctorate degree being bandied around is actually a fake, the newly appointed head of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Babatunde Fowler has removed the degree from his official Wikipedia page.
The doctorate degree, obtained from a British institution – Irish International University – in 2007 has been taken down after a public backlash.
According to Sahara Reporters, Fowler has “engaged in desperate efforts to erase the controversial title from the Internet especially on Wikipedia.”
Asides Wikipedia, his biography has been edited on the website of the Lagos Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) where he served as head during the administration of All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
