AKURE — 35-year-old Olusola Akiniwesi caught another man, Oriola Akinduko, having sex with his lover and murdered him in cold blood, in Idanre area of Ondo State.
The incident took place in the residence of the girl, Aina Afolabi, at Opa Street in Idanre about 1 a.m. on Monday January 13th 2014.
Akinduko died due to injuries sustained from machete cuts while Afolabi sustained serious injuries on her head and other parts of her body and was rushed to the hospital.
Both men, Akiniwesi and Akinduko, had dated Afolabi for almost a year until the ugly incident that led to the death of one of the lovers.
According to reports, Akiniwesi got information that his rival was spending the night at his lovers house, so he went to the house late at night to confirm the news.
He arrived his lovers house with a machete and made his way into the house through the window. On getting into the house, he met Afolabi and Akinduko making love.
Police source said he pounced on his rival and macheted him to death and inflicted severe wounds on Afolabi.
Police image maker, Wole Ogodo, said one Kola Akinduko reported the matter at the ldanre Divisional Police station.
Ogodo said: “Olusola Akiniwesi, 35 years, met his rival, Oriola Akinduko, having sex with one Aina Afolabi inside her room and entered through the window to machete both of them.”
He pointed out that while Afolabi received injuries on her head, Akinduko was confirmed dead in the hospital.
Ogodo added that the suspect is being detained at the police CID.
