President Goodluck Jonathan has sworn in Musiliu Obanikoro, as the new minister of state for foreign affairs.
Obanikoro, who is a former senator, was formally minister for state for defence. He resigned his position to further his political career as governor for Lagos State.
After losing the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, primaries to Jimi Agbaje, Obanikoro was nominated by President Jonathan for a ministerial position.
He was cleared by the senate amidst fierce opposition by senators in the opposition party.
