The government of Plateau State on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 declared an indefinite curfew which lasts from dusk to dawn in two local government areas of the state, following the incessant attacks and killings occasioned by Fulani herdsmen who have been on rampage in the areas.
The two places affected by this are Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas.
Mr Rufus Bature, the Secretary to Plateau State Government, issued the dusk to dawn curfew on Wednesday, June 24, 2015.
The statement read in part; “The curfew will be indefinite until the security situation and spate of attacks is effectively checked by security operatives.”
Mr Emmanuel Loman who is the Chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria and also the Chairman of Barkin Ladi local governemnt area stated that the curfeww was the last solution as the two LGA’s had seen severe security threats over the last two months.
