For submitting that the death of the six Ekiti doctors who were on a medical mission to Sokoto was due to over speeding, the Ekiti State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) is preparing its papers to sue the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).
Following the death of the six doctors on their way to Sokoto for a free medical mission under the auspices of the National Headquarters of the NMA, the FRSC had issued a statement after investigation that the death was occasioned by over speeding.
But the Ekiti NMA frowned at that saying the report had portrayed its members as a bunch of reckless, careless and irresponsible citizens with no value to human life. It said the statement was wicked and cruel.
In a statement on Sunday, May 1, 2016, the chapter’s assistant secretary, Dr. Kayode Ariyibi, faulted the comment and gave the NMA’s intention of dragging the FRSC to court to explain its submission before the court of law.
Ariyibi, who accused men of the FRSC of only trying to cover-up their lapses, said contrary to insinuations, the late driver who drove the ill-fated vehicle was not strange to NMA as he had served the state chapter for 10 years without any record of recklessness or accident.
