Pregnant Woman Arrested For Posing As Senior Police Officer And Defrauding Car Dealers In Ogun

A suspected fake Assistant Superintendent of Police, Funmilayo Balogun, was paraded on Wednesday, January 7, 2014 by Ogun State Police Command.

The 35-year-old, who is currently pregnant was said to have specialized in defrauding car dealers and other unsuspecting victims in Lagos and Ogun states.

The state Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye, said Balogun met her waterloo in October 2014 in Abeokuta.

He said: “Balogun, sometime in October, came to Abeokuta, dressed in police uniform, and defrauded a car dealer in Oke-Ilewo area of a metallic ash Honda Accord Crosstour, worth over N4 million. Officers later traced Balogun to her base in Lagos, where her husband, Rasheed was arrested and used as a bait to arrest his wife.

The suspect confessed that she had sold the car for N2 million to someone in Port Harcourt.”On her part, Balogun said she was dismissed as a Corporal in 2010 after she was adjudged to have fabricated certificates at Police Academy, Kano where she had gone for a course to get promoted to the rank of  Superintendent of Police.
