Female Police Officer Arrested For Killing Husband

The Delta State Police Command has arrested a female police sergeant over alleged connection to the murder of Kelechi, her husband.

According to the Vanguard, Helen, the suspect, had a disagreement with her husband, Kelechi which led to their separation.

A source, who pleaded anonymity, said: “Kelechi met his death when he visited the home of the suspect, Helen, at Umuokwe village to see his daughter.”

“Kelechi has lived in this neighbourhood over the years before he was transferred outside the state. He just came into town a day ago and decided to see his daughter, who is living with Helen.

“I feel that his decision to visit his daughter infuriated Helen, who raised alarm that Kelechi was a thief and had come to kidnap her daughter.

“Some youths in the neighbourhood gathered and attacked Kelechi and killed him in the process.”

Another source, named gift, a student, said the death  of  Kelechi, the policeman, have led to residence fleeing the neighbourhood.

She said: “Since last Thursday, most people living around here have run away from their homes. We are afraid that police will start arresting everybody around here.”

The  Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, confirmed the sad incedence. He said the suspect and her accomplices was being held in custody for the killing of Kelechi last Thursday at Ogwashi-Uku.

Kalu said: “The suspect has been arrested and detained along with other culprits, who took part in the killing of the policeman. The case is currently under investigation.”
