There are indications on Friday, June 11, 2016 that about 200 military officers may have been sacked by the federal government through text messages (SMS) over their alleged loyalty to former President Goodluck Jonathan during the 2015 general elections.

They affected officers were said to have been carefully selected for backing Jonathan during the last 2015 general election.

Further checks in the military establishment in Abuja, also hinted that military officers who were believed to be loyal to the former national security adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki were also affected in the mass sacking.

The list showed that they were mainly from the South East, South South and a small percentage of them were from the North Central region of the country.

The development which is already causing some ripples in the military, according to political analysts, could cost the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration public goodwill.

A source said, “It is being seen as an act of ethnic card to checkmate those officers who were seen as posing danger to the federal government and it was resolved in the presidency that they should be weeded out.”

But the concern as some observers also said was the implication of the sack on the psyche of the military institution and the public which was felt capable of truncating the nation’s democracy as the “systematic sacking “ of over 200 top military officers mainly from the southern part of the country was a decision difficult to defend by the federal government.

“The affected officers were sent text messages relieving them of their jobs and they were directed to pick their sack letters at specific locations without any reason given for terminating their appointments,” said a source in the presidency which pleaded anonymity.

According to the source, the move allegedly masterminded by “some hawks“ in the presidency was aimed at weeding out all officers who were perceived to be loyal to the last regime and deemed to have played one role or the other favourable to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan in the last presidential election.

“The game plan is to remove all vestiges of the old regime, particularly those officers considered to be too intelligent and smart to challenge the status quo.

“Buhari is weary of being toppled a second time, given his ugly past experience. But unknown to him, this latest move of indiscriminate sacking of senior and middle level officers has divided the military and created rumblings in some quarters,” the source stated.

  1. ARMY COUNCIL APPROVES RETIREMENT OF SOME SENIOR ARMY OFFICERS

The Nigerian Army wishes to inform the general public that quite a number of senior officers of the Nigerian Army were retired from service yesterday.
Those retired were mainly some Major Generals, Brigadier Generals, Colonels, Lieutenant Colonels and a Major.
Their retirement was based on Service exigencies. It should be recalled that not too long ago some officers were investigated for being partisan during the 2015 General Elections. Similarly, the investigation by the Presidential Committee investigating Defence Contracts revealed a lot. Some officers have already been arraigned in court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
People should therefore not read this out of context.
The military must remain apolitical and professional at all times.
We must applaud and support this laudable and bold initiative by the government.
You are please requested to disseminate this information to the public through your medium.
Thank you for your usual and kind cooperation.

    Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman
    Acting Director Army Public Relations

  2. I hope they are aware that they may be adding well-trained hands to the Avengers and Biafran groups? Let it not be that instead of solving a problem, a much more terrible one is hatched.

  3. Sentiments, ingratitude, nepotism, ethnicity and tribalism characterise this government. They have no interest of Nigeria at heart. Only there for themselves and their unholy agenda. It’s a regret, we voted them in. Let them know 4yrs isn’t eternity.

    • You are correct but one correction please,! it’s not all of us that voted for them. You may say it’s a pity that some Nigerians voted for them. I did not vote for them and I have no regrets. By the grace of God I will not have any regrets. I however pray God to guide them aright to halt this seeming polarization of Nigeria. I love my country and I pray God Almighty to intervene.

  4. We applaud and support this bold and laudable initiative or is it action of the government. It will surely make our country less restive, insecure and very peaceful. It will obviously end all ethnic agitations and reduce the number of militants albeit one’s with military know how. This government is doing very well and has no need for advice or to be reminded of how their actions affect the state of the nation . I recommend a resounding round of applause for truncation of the career of some Nigerians.

  5. This is a shame. We know Buhari is a Tribal bigot, but this is too open & too big. The Court that is the hope of a common man is already compromised. The court is now Buhari’s baby, doing his biddings. Recent events in the country & this one shows that Buhari is preparing for War. The National conference recommendation if enplimented will go a long way to reduce complain of marginalisation by some regions, is rejected, For Buhari that is no go areas. Every advice that could prompt peace is rejected by Buhari. This is one Nigeria for you.

  6. Mr President, You claimed to be fighting corruption with your injustice.
Continue with your fight with corruption, but the masses will fight your inhumane and injustice.

  7. Well the beginning of the disintegration has been given a boost. A gestapo is fast manifesting. The present regime is busy presiding over its demise and the much expected disintegration is the offing. The Avengers the die is cast.

  8. I’m not sure it’s accurate to blame Buhari here. Buhari is just a pawn, a hostage, a savant – a figurehead. The real decision makers are the usual suspects like Dambazzau, Mamman Daura and Abba Kyari. They are using Buhari as a cover for their own ethnosupremacist agenda. The man is probably almost in a vegetative state like Danbaba Suntai was a while back. He is being used as a rubber stamp puppet by these people.

I for one feel very, very sorry for Muhammadu Buhari. Someone who should have been at home resting and playing with his grandchildren is being exploited and held captive by military hawks and when the situation boils over into a full blown civil war (which is obviously what they want for what ever reason), it is Buhari’s name that history will blacken. Meanwhile the man is just a hostage.

All this shows is that either Obasanjo or Jonathan should have held on to power and damned the consequences. These Fulani military irridentists are not ready to let Nigeria grow because they know that the growth of the country will take it out of their control. Their control is all that matters. The rest of us can die in a completely needless and bloody civil war. They are fine with that.

Awon born to rule oloshi weyrey arindin.

  10. ANOTHER NORTHERN MUSLIM HAUSA-FULANI PLOT TO TAKEOVER NIGERIA ARMY’

Why keep the names secret ?

    Disgusting!

May God explode Nigeria into pieces!

  11. Make una dey talk nonesense!
Deadwoods that were manipulated by Obanikoro/fayose and allowed BH killed over 5000 nigerians should be kept in the military.
    Mmmhsh!

  12. Good. Oya come home with ur high level intelligence n lets reason on how to kill nigeria as a nation state. We welkkm u all. Lets join hands, brains, body, soul n spirit as one to disunite n disintegrate Nigeria… .. . This is jst d beginning…

  13. When you pour petrol on fire, you are spreading the fire. The presidency sack most senior and most intelligent Millitary key Officers of South -South,South East, and Middle Belt Areas because you are not comfortable with them, but you don’t know you are fortifying the,Biafrans, the Niger Deltans, and the Middle Belt Argitators. You don’t have good Advisers or you do not consult before you act.

  14. Which way Nigeria?
56 years after Independent we still findfind it difficult to start. Chaiii! Well its nobodies fault. I really blame Lord Lugaurd for joining Animals in Human Skin with real Humans.
    Which way Niger Area?

  15. It is pity that south south and south east would not come together because their mind have been poison by divide and rule mentality, my people are blind and selfish , where are the lovers of truth let us stand against this injustice, God punish britain for their injustice to the eastern region,

  16. It is quit ovios that buhari has negative intention to the southerners but let him bear in mind even if he has succeeded in deceiving the entire country from change to chain that God is still unchangeable.

  17. I am not in the least surprised nor disappointed albeit my daily prayer as a patriotic NIGERIAN since the inception of this our-so-called change, has been and will continue to be, may Buhari and his brainless team disappoint and surprise us with good leadership. This dubious, sectional, illegitimate lopsided, vindictive, overlord-centered, Housa-Fulani Caliphetic power expression in career termination of military officers from the Southern extract will be very disappointing to those of them that hoped for and believed the APC deception called Change. For those who care to know, Buhari was and still remains professionally a never-do-well and is still same: who only got promoted over and above qualified, professional peers based on the unholy Housa-Fulani Caliphetic nomination and representation during his service years. Over and against my prayers for Nigeria, we aren’t see nothing yet. This is just the beginning. Be sure there will be transfer of military skills and know-how from a legitimate space to the presently adjudged illegitimate space. After all NDA is NDA. Be it Nigeria Defence Academy or Niger Delta ……, fill in the rest. Na the same thing.
The real change unknowingly is being planted by the fake change crusaders. You cannot mock GOD.

  18. Once u re elected all body of govt must be loyal to president. I dont undast this hatred in this govt in too much. Where is the love
