An 18-year-old girl, Kafayat Olawale has gruesomely stabbed her alleged boyfriend Ojo Ijabike, 32 to death on Olutola Adebayo Street, off Idimu Road, in the Alimosho area of Lagos State.

A fight had reportedly ensued between the duo on Friday, March 27, 2015 after Ijabike from Owo in Ondo State allegedly tried to rape the suspect and threatened her with a weapon to make her succumb to the pressure.

The deceased inflicted injuries on Olawale during the fight while she allegedly stabbed him on the chest and they laid inside the room until the landlord of the house broke the door and rescued them.

Unfortunately, Ijabike, who was an electrician could not survive the encounter as he died moments after her was rushed to a nearby private hospital.

Olawale on her part was an apprentice at a hair salon in the Cele Egbe area of the state and her boss disclosed that the deceased tricked Olawale into his house by asking her to come over and collect the charger of a new phone which he bought for her.

She said, “She is a little girl and I often tried to guide her home whenever it was late in the night. She cannot hurt a fly.

“Ojo (Ijabike) bought her a phone and she brought it to the office that morning. He called her and said he forgot the charger at home, that she should come over to pick it.

“It was the charger she went to pick when he locked the door against her and wanted to sleep with her.”

The suspect’s ‘real boyfriend’ who is a barber stated that he had warned her to stop collecting gifts from the deceased.

He said, “But she kept telling me it was just a normal friendship. I tried my best to always please her, but I am aware the guy was also giving her money and gifts and I knew his intention was not pure.

“When he bought her the phone, I frowned at it. I was told it was on Friday when she was on her way to work that he called her to come over to his place to take the charger of the phone which he forgot to give her.

“That was how he wanted to take advantage of her and things went awry.”

An employee at the hospital who preferred anonymity said, “When they were rushed here, they were both alive. We, however, observed that the man was stabbed in the heart region. He died soon after. The girl also sustained injuries. I learnt that it was after the girl stabbed him that he collected the knife and began stabbing her in anger.”

Punch stated in a report that the suspect has been arrested whereas the corpse of the victim has been deposited at an undisclosed mortuary.

A police source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the suspect who hails from Osun State was stabbed more than six times in her back.

He said, “The lady was also injured. She was first hospitalised before she was arrested.”

The police spokesperson in the state , DSP Kenneth Nwosu, who confirmed the incident disclosed that the force was already investigating the matter.
