A 22-year-old jobless man, Charles Okoro, was on Monday, May 25, 2015 arraigned before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly stealing 10 bunches of banana worth N2,000.
Okoro whose address is unknown, is facing a charge of stealing.
During the session in court, police prosecutor, Innocent Uko, disclosed that Okoro committed the offence at about 6pm on Monday,May 11, 2015 at Badagry Roundabout.
According to Daily Independent, Uko said the suspect stole the banana from the complainant, Miss Precious Lawal.
“He approached the woman and started questioning her to distract her.
“The accused then carried the 10 bunches of banana and took to his heels, but was apprehended by passersby.”
The offence, according to the prosecutor, breached the dictates of Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Okoro’s legal counsel, Mr Bayo Ojo, pleaded with the court to grant his client bail on liberal terms.
