Must read

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has said that it has been vindicated in its claims over plans by Governor Rotimi Amaechi to flee the country after the forthcoming general election.

Jerry Needam, the Special Adviser to the state PDP Chairman, Felix Obuah made this known via a press statement issued on Thursday, March 26, 2015, adding that the governor has already moved his family abroad and plans to join them soon.

The PDP also revealed that Governor Amaechi has already moved his personal belonging out of the Rivers State Government House.

The statement read:

The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says recent political developments have vindicated its position that the State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has concluded arrangement to go on exile.

The party, through a statement by State  Chairman, Bro Felix Obuah and signed by the Special Adviser, Media, Jerry Needam, accused Amaechi of planning to elope , having misruled the State for eight years, looting its treasury.

The party said that having hatched and bottled up his plans to proceed on exile, the Governor unwittingly opened up in his recent comments.

At the just ended 27th Convocation of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt, precisely Saturday, March 21, 2015, where Gov. Amaechi, as Visitor and Guest of Honor, in his opening remarks, said inter alia “…today marks the beginning of my onward journey to outside Rivers State or even outside Nigeria”.  He later went on to lambast Rivers people for dumping him at the last minute and showing ingratitude despite his many achievements.

Then on Tuesday, 24th March, 2015, while reacting to the defection of his Deputy, Engr. Tele Ikuru, to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Governor Amaechi was quoted “…I can’t be governor again.  Like I keep saying, the whole world is aware of my fight with the President, and so many countries now will grant me asylum, and the President can’t arrest me”.

The party noted that these statements, read in between lines, were clear, concise and deductive, saying the Governor has finally opened up to Rivers people.Amaechi, Rivers State, PDP, Abroad, election, Government House, Obuah, Needam

The PDP said the fact has been buttressed by the relocation of the Governor’s wife and children abroad, adding that Amaechi had also moved  all of his personal belongings out of the Government House to unknown destination.

It is against this backdrop that the PDP called on relevant security agencies, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to take note of these developments and take decisive actions.
