Governorship Election: ‘Governor Amaechi has paid Jega’ – Rivers State PDP

Must read

As the Saturday, April 11, 2015 governorship election draws closer, the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that the Governor of the state, Rotimi Amaechi has financially induced the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professo Attahiru Jega to manipulate the election in the state.

The Rivers State PDP Publicity Secretary, Samuel Nwanosike, said the All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded plans to replace the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs. Gesila Khan with a card carrying member of the APC.

Nwanosike said the state was a PDP state, which was evident by the 1,487,075 the party polled, as against the 69,238 garnered by the APC in the presidential polls.

He said: “Jega should stay away from Rivers. We (PDP) are aware of the plan to change the Rivers State REC. As I speak to you, Governor Amaechi has paid Jega so that the APC can manipulate the governorship election in the state.

“The plan is to remove the Rivers State REC and bring in a card-carrying member of the APC to replace her. We will resist any move to remove Gesila Khan. Rivers people will resist plan to remove her.”
