Oba of Lagos, Oba RIlwan Akiolu on Sunday, April 5, 2015 delivered a serious threat to the Igbos living in Lagos, telling them to vote for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akinwumi Ambode or else they will die in the lagoon.

Thisday reports that Oba Akiolu, who was evidently miffed, made the threat at a meeting with Igbo leaders, warning that Igbo people should not repeat their actions of Saturday,  March 28, 2015 where the votes of non-indegenes helped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) win a high amount of votes in the presidential and National Assembly election – with two Igbos and a Delta indegene winning Federal House of Representatives seats – warning that it the same occurs, they should be ready for the repercussion.

Oba Akiolu said:  “On Saturday, if anyone of you goes against Ambode who I picked, that is your end. If it doesn’t happen within seven days, just know that I am a bastard and it is not my father who gave birth to me.

“Jonathan is my son and I speak to him everyday. By the grace of God, I am the owner of Lagos for the time being. This is an undivided chair. The palace belongs to the dead and those coming in the future.

“On Saturday, if anyone of you, I swear in the name of God, goes against my wish that Ambode will be the next governor of Lagos State, the person is going to die inside this water.

“I’m not ready to beg you. Nobody knew how I picked Ambode. Jimi (Agbaje) is my blood relation and I told him that he cannot be governor in Lagos for now. The future belongs to God. I am not begging anybody, but what you people cannot do in Onitsha, Aba or anywhere, don’t do it here.

“If you do what I want, Lagos will continue to be prosperous for you. If you go against my wish, you will perish in the water.

“I am for the progress, growth and development of Lagos. Ambode is highly cerebral, he’s a symbol and he is going to deliver the message which I, the Oba of Lagos, have said. And he will govern the state for another eight years.

“He is going on a mission and God will give him the wisdom and knowledge to fulfill that mission. Almost a year ago, I declared that Ambode will be the next governor of Lagos and it will not change.

“From time immemorial, the previous occupiers of this house will say what they wanted after consultations with other people. And this hasn’t changed and it will not change at this time.”

While absolving President Jonathan of any wrong doing, stating that an unnamed predecessor of the incumbent was behind Nigeria’s crisis.

He continued: “If not for the appeal from Asiwaju (Bola Tinubu) and my highly respected maternal father, the Awujale of Ijebu-Ode, all what is happening today is not the cause of the present government. The man who caused everything knows himself.”

  1. I hope this Oba of Lagos realizes that there are Lagosians and other Yoruba people living in Igbo land and South South. I hope he also knows that if he toes this line, Yoruba people will not be safe anywhere in the South East and South South. In Nigeria you have Yoruba people living in Port Harcourt, Warri, Enugu, Benin, Calabar, etc. People do not think before they plan evil. The evil this Oba of Lagos is sending out will come home to roost.

Please someone should give this man a map of Nigeria so that he will see that South South has a lot of rivers and bodies of water. There is also river Niger, which is close to Onitsha.

Now that he is trying to start a war, his people should call him to order before he starts something he cannot finish

  2. This is shameful that in the 21st century any Oba could make such a disgusting threat and fellow Oba’s could not immediately advised him of the Danger behind such ridiculous Act aggression. This Oba of Lagos should realise that lagos belong to everyone and without foreigners and people from other states of the country, Lagos won’t be as it is so he should stop denying people of their right and stop the act of dictatorship and let people choose their candidates. Oba of Lagos !!!!, you should be after peace and starting a War. “No restriction of movement for any Nigerian citizen and they should be able to vote a candidate of their choice without any interference.
