Heard Of The Cinderella Surgery? New Fashion Fad Has Women Clipping Their Feet To Fit Into Designer Shoes

Must read

There is a new fad going around in plastic surgeon’s offices across the US – that of clipping, trimming and padding feet so that women can fit into designer shoes. They call it the “Cinderella Surgery”.

Just like the girl from the fairy tale, women are having their feet altered so that they can fit into shoes that they only dream of wearing. The surgery involves the shortening or lengthening of toes, removal of bunions and even injection of fat into the soles and heels – just like having permanent Dr. Scholls.

According to Time, although this might seem like something out of a fairytale, it is actually a procedure that more and more women across the US are opting for.

Admittedly, plastic surgery of the feet is something that has been done for quite some time now. There are corrections for when your feet are stuck in the shape of a high heel (aptly named “high heel foot”) or when your big toe sticks out (“hitchhiker’s feet”).

But women across the country have taken it even further. Although they deny it, doctors have had requests to have liposuction done on their toes. Dr. Oliver Zong, founder of NYC Footcare and who came up with the term “teobesity”, even had a woman ask him to completely shear off her pinkie toe – which he refused to do.

But, according to Dr. Ali Sadrieh, a podiatrist at Evo Advanced Foot Surgery in California, we shouldn’t rush to judge the women that opt for the foot surgery. He said, “On the surface, it looked shallow. But I came to see she [the patient] needs these shoes to project confidence, they are part of her outside skin. That’s the real world.”

Doctors say that the post-operative swelling takes about three to six months to go down after which the women can start enjoying their designer shoes.
