He is an Arsenal legend and he remains an ambassador of the club. Frenchman, Thierry Henry believes that Arsenal is ready to mount a serious premier league challenge this season and possibly a good run in the Champions league too.
Henry believes the Gunners mean more than business this time around but will need an additional striker so as to be able to launch a great campaign. The 37-year-old who is Arsenal’s all-time highest goalscorer believes that his countryman, Olivier Giroud is doing a great job in attack for the London side but it is another of his countryman he believes will guarantee success for the team.
Henry believes Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema will make the current Arsenal side eligible for the premier league and possibly the champions league trophy when the 2015/2016 draws to a close. Speaking to talkSPORT, he had this to say:
“I always say it’s their year but there is a genuine buzz around the place right now.”
“I think they can challenge this year for real if they stay injury-free.
“Giroud alone as a striker there – you can’t win the league, you need another type of striker.
“I think Giroud is doing really well – he went on to score 14 goals in 18 games, that’s amazing – but sometimes you need a different type of striker and I think that, if they can get Benzema, suddenly they are a real title contender and also in the Champions League.”
Thierry Henry spent eight years with the Gunners and during that period, he became the club’s all-time highest goalscorer of all time with 228 goals.
