In the wee hours of Thursday, October 29, 2015, Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets beat their Australian counterparts 6-0 at Vina Del Mar in the ongoing Chile 2015 Under-17 World cup

It was a special day for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as he netted the competition’s first hat-trick, taking his goal tally to seven in the competition.

Nigeria’s first goal came through the tournament’s leading goalscorer, Victor Osimhen in the 22nd minute after turning a defender and firing the ball calmly into the far post.

Eaglets player, Funsho Bamgboye was then brought down in the Australian penalty area. The resulting spot-kick was well taken by Kelechi Nwakali to take the Nigerians two goals up. This came shortly after the Australians almost got an equalizer.

Both teams went in at half-time with the scores at 2-0.

Upon resumption of second half, the Australians maintained possession but were further punished by the lethal finishing of the Nigerians.

Nigeria’s third goal came through a usual suspect, Victor Osimhen in the 73rd minute. Six minutes later, he was on fire once again as he netted Nigeria’s fourth and his third for the game.

The Nigerians were not done with the Australians however. An 86th minute flying header by substitute, Edidiong Michael Essien and a cool finish by Samuel Chukwueze after rounding the keeper in the 86th minute concluded a beautiful night for the Golden Eaglets. The Nigerian are now through to the quarter finals of the ongoing competition
