‘I Was Attending To My Health’ – First Lady Aisha Buhari Explains Long Absence From Nigeria

Nigeria’s First Lady Aisha Buhari, on Sunday, October 13, 2019 attributed her long stay outside the country to “doctor’s instruction.”

Mrs. Buhari disclosed this in an interview she granted journalists shortly after she arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

Although she said she was well now, the President’s wife said she still needed more rest.

She said, “I have taken my holiday for this year and it happened that after the holiday, I needed to attend to my health before going to Saudi.

“When I went to Saudi, based on doctor’s instruction, I went back to the UK.

“I am well now but still, I need more rest.” She thanked Nigerians for what she called their constant prayers for her and President Muhammadu Buhari.

Aisha Buhari Confirms Authenticity Of Trending Video

Nigeria’s First Lady Aisha Buhari on arrival after her long absence from the country, also confirmed the authenticity of the video which was trending over the weekend.

According to a statement by her spokesman, Suleiman Haruna, Mrs. Buhari arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at 4.30am.

She said she was happy to be back in the country after what she called a “deserved rest.”

She was said to have been received at the airport by wives of serving and former state governors as well as some other friends and family members.

When interviewed by journalists about the video of her shouting at Aso Rock staff and demanding to know why they had locked up her personal quarters, she said the video is real and it happened “at the Villa”.

“This morning, First Lady of Nigeria, Dr Mrs Aisha Muhammadu Buhari returned to the country after a long holiday in the UK,” the statement read.

“She arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 4.30 am via a British Airways flight.

Speaking to reporters on arrival, Mrs Buhari said she was happy to be home after a well-deserved rest.

“She confirmed that she was fully rejuvenated to continue the work of improving the health and well-being of women, children and other vulnerable Nigerians.

“She used the opportunity to thank her husband, family and well-wishers for their support and encouragement.

“On hand to receive her were wives of present and former governors and many associates.”
