‘I Will Not Treat Everyone Equally’: Oby Ezekwesili Slams Buhari Over 97% vs 5% Comments [TWEETS]

Must read

Leader of the Bring Back Our Girls campaign, Oby Ezekwesili on Friday, July 24, 2015 took to micro-blogging website, Twitter, to slam President Muhammadu Buhari over comments attributed to the President suggesting that Nigerians who gave him 97% of their votes will be better treated than those that gave him 5%.

Buhari had in a session with foreign journalists in Washington DC during his 4-day visit to the United States had stated clearly that those who voted for him 97% cannot get the same dividends of his government as those that didn’t vote for him or voted 5%. “It is only fair,” he insisted saying that the government had to show appreciation for those who helped to bring it to power.

Former Education minister under Obasanjo’s era, Ezekwesili on Friday took a swipe at President Buhari when she tweeted that “the primary duty of EVERY Government is to improve the quality of life of ALL citizens regardless of their political preferences.”

In her usual fashion, she had another go at Buhari. This time, using the ‘wailing wailers’ – a condescending description of the opposition and critics of President Buhari – an expression coined and made popular by Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina – have a right to full benefits of governance.

This is the second major spat, Ezekwesili had on Twitter, Friday. The other was over her true portfolio at the World Bank.

CNBC, an American basic cable and satellite business news television channel told Nigeria’s Former Minister of Education and lead advocate for the Bring Back Our Girls Dr. Oby Ezekwesili to stop parading herself as the first female Vice President of the World Bank.

CNBC Africa had announced Arunma Oteh as the first African woman Vice President of the World Bank. Ezekwesili, feeling slighted decided to take a swipe at the American TV station on Twitter.

CNBC Africa responded, telling Ezekwesili that she was not Vice President of the World Bank, rather she was Vice President of the African Region.
