Igbo Town Unions Vow To Resist Insurgency In South-east

The leadership of Association of Igbo Town Unions in the South-east geopolitical zone of the country has resolved to create the necessary security awareness among Ndi Igbo so as to avert the infiltration of the Boko Haram insurgents in the area.

This was part of the resolution reached by the leadership of the association after their closed door meeting in Enugu, which was necessitated by the increasing infiltration of the Islamic sect in the South-east.

In a statement signed and issued to journalists in Abakaliki by one of the leaders and National President of Anambra State Association of Igbo Town Unions, Dr. Jude A.P Okolo, the union said it has resolved to put necessary machinery in motion to ensure that any attempt by any criminally-minded people to truncate the peace of the area was resisted.

Okolo, who was also former member of Ebonyi state House of Assembly, explained that the body was the only authentic umbrella organisation of all town unions in Igbo land.
