NAN- Ahead of the 2015 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has assured National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who will participate in the electoral, of adequate security.

INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner in Cross River, Dr Okay Ezeanyi, gave the assurance on Friday in Calabar, while on a visit to NYSC Secretariat in the state.

“It is the duty of INEC to provide adequate security for corps members, who will be used as ad hoc staff for the 2015 elections.

“I want to say that INEC is making you its priority in the forthcoming general elections,’’ he said.

He, however, advised that corps members selected for election duties in the state should be of good conduct during the exercise.

“On no account must you compromise your integrity to satisfy any politician; do not allow them to lobby you, do your job credibly,’’ he warned.

The REC disclosed that adequate arrangement had been made for prompt payment of allowance to the corps members on election assignments.

“INEC is not going to owe you, we will pay every corps member the money he or she is entitled to,’’ he said.

Responding, NYSC Coordinator in the state, Mr Habibu Kurawa, urged INEC to ensure prompt payment of allowance to corps members.

Kurawa said that NYSC officials would be in the field to monitor activities of corps members during the elections.

He also advised corps members to be of good conduct during the elections, adding that they should be in their NYSC uniform when assigned to polling units.
