NAN – The Jigawa government on Tuesday sais it had provided sun screenimg cream worth N1.4 million to 150 albinos in the state in the last one year.

Alhaji Ibrahim Raba-Kaya, the Executive Secretary of the Jigawa Rehabilitation Board, revealed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Dutse.

Raba-Kaya said that the cream was provided to protect them from the effects of sun rays and reduce risks of skin diseases.

“You know due to albinos’ complexion, their skin do not resist sun rays like our own.

‘’So we provided them with the sun cream as it helps in reducing the pains due to the direct sun light, especially during the hot season,” he said.

According to him, the gesture is also meant to give albinos in the state, a sense of belonging.

He said the board had been providing the cream to the albinos for seven years now.

“Each year we set aside some money which we use to procure and distribute the sun cream to all albinos living in the state,” he said.

Raba-Kaya said that the board had identified and registered all persons with albinism across the 27 local government areas of the state
