Security aides attached to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal were on Thursday, October 30, 2014 withdrawn by the Federal Government (FG), according to Daily Trust.
This might not be unconnected to the recent decamping of the Speaker form the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) which did not go down well with the PDP.
According to an unnamed source: “Early this morning, few minutes after midnight to be precise, top level security report informed the Speaker that orders have been given for the withdrawal of his security details.”
As the number four citizen of the country, the Speaker is entitled to security details made up of the Police, Civil Defence Corps and the Department of State Security (DSS) and should be guarded round the clock.
Attempts to contact the Speaker were abortive as neither he or his spokesperson, Imam Imam could be contacted for statements.
