Kano Pillars Win Nigerian League As Enyimba’s Mfon Udoh Sets League Goal-Scoring Record

Must read

Kano Pillars on Sunday, November 2, 2014 walloped Nembe City 4-0 to emerge as champions of the Nigerian Glo Premier League in as many years.

The Week 37 match sees the outfit from the ancient city of Kano retain the Premier League with one match to spare, as a loss to prospective runners up, Enyimba of Aba would still see them clinch the trophy.

As the league heads into its final week, Mfon Udoh of Enyimba set a new league record for number of goals scored in a single season after scoring his 21st goal of the season, surpassing Jude Aneke’s 20-goal haul of three seasons ago.

Udoh achieved the feat against Dolphins FC of Port Harcourt – whose Emem Eduok was tied on 20 goals before the match – at the Liberation Stadium.

After going behind in the 54th minute via a  Chidiebere Okoli goal, Udoh grabbed the equalizer for the Peoples’ Elephant in the 65th minute as he converted a header, beating Sunday Rotimi in the Dolphins goal.

He could have added to his tally three minutes later, but couldn’t make the most of  his chances during a goal mouth scramble.
