The lifeless body of a businessman named Edward Okechukwu, who was kidnapped on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 by some unknown hoodlums was on Saturday, January 10, 2015 discovered on the streets in the Wurukum area of Makurdi, Benue state’s capital.
Until his death, Okechukwu owned Our Choice table water in the capital city of the state and was reported to have been kidnapped near his residence along Iorkyaa Ako street, High Level, Makurdi, said a Leadership report.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP John Bako, disclosed that investigations into the case is currently ongoing although they have not been able to reach the kidnappers yet.
It was rumoured that the kidnappers demanded a ransom of N20 Million even though the family had reportedly beaten the price to N7 Million and were able to raise N1.7 Million to pay the abductors before the unfortunate incident occurred.
