Landlady’s Daughter Allegedly Breaks Into Tenants House And Steals N2 Million In Lagos

NAN – A student, Aminat Adekanbi, who allegedly broke into a tenant’s apartment in her mother’s house and stole N2 million, appeared before an Itire Magistrate Court in Lagos on Thursday, February 27, 2014.

Adekanbi, 22, is facing a two-count charge of breaking and entry and theft.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Olakunle Shonibare, told the court that the accused committed the offence on May 6 2013, at No. 9 Oremeji Sreet, Itire Lagos.

He said that the accused cleverly broke into one Saidi Opadayo’s apartment and stole N2 million.

He said that Opadayo’s wife got back from work and while trying to open her door, she discovered that someone was in their apartment.

Shonibare said that she immediately called the attention of neighbours who helped her opened the door, only to find the landlady’s daughter in her apartment.

He said  the offences contravened Section 305 and 286 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrates, Mrs A.O Gbajumo, granted her bail in the sum of N20, 000 with one surety and adjourned the case till April 16, for mention.
