An insane woman was caught by the Abia state policemen in Aba, for attempting to kill one of her twin babies after allegedly stoning one to death.
The sad incident occured on Saturday, August 2, 2014 when she gave birth to two healthy girls on top of a garbage heap close to an AGIP filling station at Alaoji, along Ikot Ekpene Road, Aba.
After having the babies, the woman fell asleep only to be awaken by the babies cry and in an attempt to silence the baby, she used a stone found around the dump site to hit the child who died before she could be rescued.
Out of fear for the safety of the second baby, concerned residents of the area alerted the police and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for Ogbor Hill Division, Mrs. Helen Nze, led a team of policemen to the refuse site.
The living baby was rushed to a private hospital where she was cleaned and given medication, while the dead baby was taken to the mortuary.
