A former backup singer to Nigerian reggae legend, Majek Fashek has revealed that the rainmaker was once a teetotaler.
Speaking on Wazobia 95.1 FM’s breakfast show on Thursday, August 13, 2015, Monica revealed that she met Majek when she was 14.
She also told the host of the programme, Yaw that she was part of Majek’s first and second album tour in Nigeria before she eventually traveled to the US for her studies. While she was still in Nigeria with Majek, she stated that he never smoked or took alcohol as he didn’t have the mind to indulge in such.
She is of the opinion that Majek’s problem with drugs and alcohol must have begun somewhere along the line when the artiste moved to America.
Monica who has spearheaded the Save Majek campaign revealed that the music legend’s condition is improving at the Abuja rehab center which has now become his home. She called on Nigerians to keep praying for the quick and steady recuperation of the reggae star.
