A man in Michigan, is lucky to be alive after setting a gas station on fire while trying to burn a spider that was crawling on his car.
The man of Center Line, who was not identified, used his cigarette lighter to kill the spider.
The fire quickly engulfed the gas pump.
Somehow, the man was not seriously injured and the damage to the gas station was contained to one pump, which was destroyed.
An employee at the gas station hit the automatic stop button and quickly called the fire department. The man grabbed a fire extinguisher and put out the flames before firefighters arrived.
He admitted to investigators that he saw a spider crawling on his gas tank before trying to burn it alive. The car was not damaged by the flames.
Surprisingly, the man was not embarrassed to come back to the gas station the following day. The man said that he was sorry.
The damage to the gas station is expected to be covered by accident insurance.
