The masquerade festival had not always gone down well as it is often marked by agony on the parts of the residents in the aftermath.

The end result of the bloody festival could be as grave as death in some occasions which prompted an action from the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Muhammed Katsina, who is bent on putting an end to the trend.

Katsina stated on Monday, June 8, 2015 that two members of a deadly syndicate who habitually duped people in public were arrested by the ambush squad of the command.

He explained how the suspects who were caught with human parts, often appeared in the guise of lending spiritual assistance to the victims and duped them thereafter.

According to the police boss, some items recovered from the suspects included small pieces of human skull, hair, fake 900 dollars and some charms.

Katsina further maintained that the masquerade custodian, Sikiru Ojewale violated an earlier undertaking they made with the police, adding that the force has a zero tolerance for any breach of the existing peaceful atmosphere in the state by either individual or group.

He reinstated the resolve of the force to fish out the fleeing suspects from their hideouts and bring them to book.

In reaction, Sikiru denied the allegation that his supporters destroyed the vehicles, adding that his masquerade had been indoors since the police had not granted him the permission to move into town with it.
