Newly inaugurated Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wikeon Friday, May 29, 2015 appointed Justice Daisy Okocha as the Chief Judge of the state, Vanguard reports.
Governor Wike announced the appointment while delivering his inaugural speech.
It would be recalled that Rivers State has been without a Chief Judge for some time, which prompted the Attorney General of the Federation to direct the Chief Judge of Bayelsa state, Justice Kate Abiri to coordinate the swearing in of Governor Wike.Asides the appointment, Governor Wike also ordered the immediate reopening of all state owned courts which have been under lock and key.Governor Wike also announced the reinstatement of several lecturers of the Rivers state University of Science and Technology who were relieved by the Rotimi Amaechi-led administration.
