Three children have reportedly been abducted by suspected kidnappers at Ajuwon in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The children who are between the ages of 4 and 5 years were taken away by the tenants who rented an apartment in the same house where the parents of the children also live.
The incident which occurred on February 18, at Itsekiri Street was said to have caused serious panic after the kidnappers took the children away under the guise of buying them biscuits in the neighbourhood.
It was learnt that the kidnappers escaped with the kids barely 24 hours after they moved into a one-room apartment in the compound where the victim’s parents reside.
An eyewitness said the two kidnappers claimed they were students of a school based in Ikeja, Lagos, and would stay at the apartment for three weeks, pending the conclusion of their examination that they came to write in the state.
The women were said to be very friendly with other tenants in the compound within the short time they spent there. The kidnappers thereafter disappeared with the kids after claiming they were visiting a shop in the neighborhood with them to buy biscuits.
The source said immediately after the incident the case was reported at the Ajuwon Police Station. It was also gathered that one Kingsley Peter, who introduced the suspects to a Barber who brought the kidnappers to the house as an agent has also been arrested.
Confirming the incident, the Ogun State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Abimbola Oyeyemi said “we heard about it. The case is under investigation. The kidnappers came to rent an apartment in that building. They recently packed into that place and other occupants of the house never knew that they had a game plan.
“Since they came into the house, they started playing with all these children, showing signs of a good neighbour. The parents relaxed thinking that they are good people, not until they ran away with about three kids from that place.”
