Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has insisted that the All Progressives Congress, APC, will emerge victorious in the 203 elections despite the crisis that rocked the party’s Congress.
The governor stated this after the election of his faction.
“Its APC from top to bottom and from bottom to top, it’s only APC in 2023,” he said.
During the election which held at the Justice Legbo Kutigi Conference Centre in Minna, the state capital, Hon. Haliru Zakari Jikantoro emerged the state chairman of the group by consensus.
Ahmed Ketso, the deputy governor; Minister of State (Foreign Affairs) Amb. Zubairu Dada; Hon. Umar Bago and other House of Representatives members did not turn up at the Congress.
But, the three Senators representing the state at the upper house of the National Assembly were present.
During the congress, the Chairman of the Committee, Ahmed Suleiman Wambai explained that APC agreed for consensus and read out the names for affirmation.
He also alleged that those who claimed to have bought their forms got them from the market and not from the party.
Also, speaking the factional chairman , Hon. Aliyu Jikantoro assured that his tenure will carry all members along.
It would be recalled the party congress which held today produced two factional executive members.
The other faction, which had its election earlier at Bay Clinic road, Tunga, elected Hon. Nasiru Yusuf Ubandiya as chairman.
Earlier, the Governor arrived the venue of the congress in a 20-seater Toyota Coaster bus along with his team, but sat in the vehicle for over 20 minutes without stepping out.
He was brought through the back gate of the Conference Center without the usual long entourage of vehicles.
It was gathered that having recieved feelers on the crisis in the party congress that a factional congress held at Bay Clinic road, Tunga he got disturbed.
He returned to the Government House with his team to restrategise before returning to the venue.
