But They Are Muslims And Proclaim Qu’ran – CAN Responds To OIC Denial Of Boko Haram

Must read

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Tuesday debunked claims by the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) stating that Boko Haram members and their activities are anti-Islam.

CAN Secretary General, Musa Ayake, said such statements cannot be true given the antics and antecedents of the Boko Haram sect.

Asake told THISDAY that “if they said they are not Muslims, they should meet with Boko Haram because the sect had told the whole world that they are Muslims, that they want to upturn Nigeria constitution and put in place sharia Superintendent of Police (SP), “ he said.

“These are Muslims; it is not only in Nigeria, look at other Islamic countries, there are killings also. If they are rejecting Boko Haram. It is not on paper, while the people are doing the havoc. They should tell us the steps and actions they have taken to show that Boko Haram are anti-Islam.”

Also, CAN Director of National Issues, Sunday Oibe, told THISDAY that nobody would believe OIC in view of the atrocities committed by Boko Haram sect in the name of Islam.

“They proclaim Islam; it is for them (OIC) to go and sort themselves out. These are people who have been taught and radicalised by Islamic clerics. In fact, we are suspecting the OIC.

“Boko Haram proclaims Islam, Koran who want to enthrone Sharia in Nigeria. So who is fooling who? They are Muslims as far as we are concerned,” he said.

Oibe further maintained that CAN is completely opposed to the participation of OIC in the forth coming inter-faith conference billed to take place in Nigeria.

“We don’t want OIC again in Nigeria, they like coming through the back door, we don’t need OIC to organise inter-faith conference in Nigeria.
