Real Madrid sacked Rafa Benitez on Monday, January 4, 2015 and have since replaced him with club legend and former coach of Real Madrid’s team B (Castilla), Zinedine Zidane.

Speaking about the outgoing Rafa Benitez at the unveiling of the new manager, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez had this to say:

“”We stand before a great professional and a magnificent person. We are grateful for his dedication in these months”.

He then went on to praise the man who will replace Benitez, Zinedine Zidane:

“He is without a doubt one of the biggest figures in football history. He knows better than anyone what it means to be at the head of the Real Madrid squad.

“He knows how hard this bench is, he knows these players and with him as our assistant the 10th European Cup (Champions League) was achieved. The word impossible does not exist for you.”
