#PowerTussle? Buhari Withdraws Name Of One Ministerial Nominee (DETAILS)

Must read

President Muhammadu Buhari has withdrawn the name of a ministerial nominee Ahmed Musa Ibeto without giving reasons.

Buhari made this known to the nation in a letter addressed to Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki.

The letter was read on the floor of the Senate, Wednesday, October 14, 2015 and it said, “I write to withdraw the nomination of Ahmed Ibeto that l earlier submitted. Please accept Mr. Senate President, the assurances of my highest consideration.”

Ibeto was among the first set of 21 ministerial nominees submitted to the Senate by Buhari on September 30, 2015.

No reason was given by the President for this unusual act, but there are speculations that the decision is connected with power play between retired generals in Niger State. Political analysts say that there is a clash between the backers of Abubakar Bwari whose name appeared in the 2nd batch of ministerial nominees and those who back Ahmed Ibeto.

Bwari and Ibeto both hail from Niger State.
