Presidency Admits Buhari’s Ill Health, President Jets Out To London

Must read

The Nigerian presidency has announced that President Muhammadu Buhari will be away from the country on medical leave for 10 days beginning on Monday, June 6, 2016 confirming reports of Buhari’s ill health.

Presidential spokesman, Mr. Femi Adesina has disclosed in a brief statement on Facebook on Sunday evening that the president has an ear infection and would be seeing a medical specialist for his “persistent” ailment.

“President Muhammadu Buhari will take 10 days off and travel to London on Monday June 6th to rest,” Adesina wrote.

“During the holiday, he will see an E.N.T. specialist for a persistent ear infection.

“The President was examined by his Personal Physician and an E.N.T Specialist in Abuja and was treated. Both Nigerian doctors recommended further evaluation purely as a precaution.”

Rumour of Buhari’s health challenges have been circulating for some time now.

Our sources in the presidential villa in Aso Rock have confirmed to The Trent, weeks ago that Buhari has serious health challenges.

Our editors decided not to report it because we felt it would be an intrusion into his privacy at the time. We also believed that a responsible government would inform the Nigerian people of the president’s health challenges when he could no longer perform his duties as president.

Premium Times, an All Progressives Congress-leaning newspaper has reported on the president’s ill health on Saturday and confirmed earlier reports that Buhari’s recent cancellations of important appearances is as a result of his sickness.

In a swift reaction, Mr. Femi Adesina rebuffed the story saying Buhari was ‘as fit as a fiddle’. We took his remarks with a pinch of salt because if there is anything in abundance in Buhari’s government, it is lies.

Buhari had in recent weeks cancelled his appearance at a number of public functions due to his ill health.
