President Jonathan Appreciates Donors To Terror Victims’ Support Fund

President Goodluck Jonathan has shown his immense appreciation towards Nigerians who contributed generously towards the country’s anti-terrorism project.

The fund-raising which was held on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the State House banquet hall, Abuja was a huge success as the N50 billion target was surpassed.

In a press statement signed by President Jonathan’s special adviser for media and publicity, Reuben Abati, the president states that he was overwhelmed by the support and enthusiasm shown in the cause.

According to the press release, the president was happy to know that Nigerians are genuinely concerned about the threat terrorism poses to the country.

He also added that the enthusiasm shown in the fund-raising has inspired the country’s number one citizen to adopt any means possible to do everything within federal government powers to bring terrorism to an end

The expected target the fund-raising was supposed to generate was N50 billion,an amount that was surpassed as about N58billion was realised in the fund-raising.

The president also reserved special praise for the chairman of the terror victims support foundation, Gen. Theophilus Danjuma and members of the foundation for volunteering their service to the country in such a capacity while adding that he is assured that the money generated will be put into judicious use.

Of the N58,790 billion realised the highest donationmade was N10 billion and the lowest N5,000.

President Jonathan also uses the opportunity to beckon on Nigerians and friends of the country to contribute their quota towards the foundation as funds are still needed to tackle the menace of terrorism.
