Report: Tukur Was Credibly Elected, He Remains PDP Chairman – President Jonathan Insists

Must read

The calls for the resignation of the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, has reached a deadlock as President Goodluck Jonathan has categorically stated that Tukur will remain the party chairman and he will not further revisit the issue or listen to any call for the resignation of the party chairman.

Some PDP governors and party chieftains have been calling for Tukur’s resignation, and people were of the opinion that the party’s chairman is the cause of the crisis going on within the party.

A source which spoke to Leadership said, “The president stated that Bamanga Tukur will remain the party chairman and he will not listen to any call by anybody in the party for Tukur’s resignation. He is credibly elected and will continue to be the party chairman.”

Tukur’s ordeal began when the G-7 governors faulted the way the national chairman was running the party, claiming that Tukur was running the party like his personal estate, this led to a crisis of confidence between the national chairman and some PDP governors who pushed for his removal on the grounds that his high handedness led to the defection of G-5 governors to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

As it stands, Tukur will remain the national chairman of PDP.
