Ok! Let’s face it, graduation ceremonies are usually very boring affairs with long speeches and prize giving and the same old your life is just beginning and how you will always have friends among your fellow graduands. Well, bor-ing!
The 2015 graduating students of Kahuku High School, Oahu in Hawaii decided that they were not going to take the chance and let their graduation be the same old boring routine and spiced things up with songs and dance routines.
They started out with a version of Wiz Khalifa‘s See You Again, and followed that up with Jackson 5‘s ABC. The party really truly started as they proceeded to Uptown Funk, Miley Cyrus‘ Wrecking Ball and got the party going with nae nae and a host of other songs.
The party ends with the traditional war dance known as haka which was inspired by the Maori people of New Zealand. It was created for the Kahuka Red Raiders specifically by a Maori cultural specialist.
“Ko Wai Matou? Kaipāhua Kura” translates to “Who are we? We are the Red Raiders” with other lyrics saying, “We are unified we are one / For our families and Community (Who have been through much) / We will stand as Warriors (For them) / We will stand Brave.”
