#SoundOff: Why I Have No Pity For Senator ‘Backstabbing Twin’ Saraki

Must read

[dropcap]I[/dropcap] have no pity for Senator Bukola Saraki over his present travails.

After reading former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s book and OBJ’s recount of the shady deals Saraki did with Atiku Abubakar over the Societe Generale Bank, as well as Saraki’s tango with James Ibori to ensure that Goodluck Jonathan never became President for selfish reasons, it became clear to me why Saraki was malevolent towards GEJ all through GEJ’s reign.

OBJ didn’t have much kind words for Saraki in his book, even though OBJ himself is something else. But OBJ considered Saraki a corrupt person; just as OBJ called Bola Tinubu a ‘crook of international proportions’.

So, if the Tinubu/ Buhari Camp want Saraki out and are using a curious Code of Conduct Case to rattle him, it seems Tinubu and Buhari want to go for the jugular. With the Court declaring Saraki wanted today, the games all of them are playing; including Saraki, will consume all of them. It might also bring to a standstill, Buhari’s plan to have a smooth relationship with the National Assembly.

If Saraki is arraigned in court and tried ( and I support that he should go clear his name), the next plan by the Tinubu/Buhari group would be to convene the Senate and pass a vote of no confidence against Saraki. He will be asked to step down or simply impeached. How they will do that with majority of the Senators with Saraki is left to be seen but they sure will try. If that doesn’t work and Saraki survives the attempt, Buhari can kiss the executive-legislature harmony goodbye.

Saraki is one of the deftest politicians in Nigeria and learnt very well from his father, the late Abubakar Saraki. By the way, Saraki’s father was Senate Leader in the Second Republic and headed a committee which probed the alleged missing $2.8 Billion purported to have been stolen in 1978 by Obasanjo and Buhari, who was the Minister in Charge of Petroleum then. So, sometimes, we can go back in time to understand the present.

Like I said, I have no sympathy for Saraki. He had ambition. He wanted power. He got power but forgot that power has a twin brother; backStabber.

Of course Saraki was that backstabbing twin when Goodluck Jonathan was President.

Then, it was Saraki dancing ‘Shoki’ as he and his group planned to destroy Jonathan. That he is getting his pound of flesh is poetic justice.

It’s a crumbling house we see falling. In May this year, I said APC and it’s seemingly chummy alliance will begin to crumble within 6 months and scatter within a year.

The Saraki faction of the APC was the New PDP who broke away with 5 PDP Governors to join APC.

Let the vultures begin to eat themselves.
